Are you saying the center of the wheel is not large enough to slip completely past the trailer hub?

I have the same setup on my home made trailer 5-5 hubs and stock jk wheels what I did is welded up a 3500 lbs axle found the 5-5 hubs used 2" aluminum hub centric wheel spacers from eBay. This is the only way to get a stock jk wheel to fit a trailer hub unless you machine the center of the wheel so that the dust cap pokes through... But i want a stock look. I can post a picture of my setup tomorrow pm me if you need anything

Also I have the same tires on my trailer that is on my jku - so that I don't have to carry a spare tire for my trailer... 2" spacer is the minimum thickness to make the wheel fit... I tried 1.5 and it wasn't enough, the 2" will give and 1/4-1/8" space between the hub bearing dust cap and the back of the jk wheel center cap flange on the wheel... Cost was $60 for the spacers

I used 1.5" spacers on the hubs, so I planned my axle length accordingly, found that certain dust caps for the hubs were better shaped to use in conjunction with the center caps (more conical, rather than flat-topped). Then, shaved the inside "teeth" from the Jeep wheel center cap by first using a pair of side cutters, then, running it on my belt sander to flatten/true-up the back side.

Very nice looking trailer... What brand trailer or did you build it?
Trimming the wheel center cap is a great ideal! I thought about doing that when I tried the 1.5 spacers... I couldn't find any smaller hub dust caps except the tradition conical top that is sold everywhere... Do you have a picture? The other thing I considered is that I wanted to be able to easily use my jk's spare on the trailer if needed so I just went with the thicker. The edge of my tire protrudes slightly outside the fender lip...but manageable.

Here are a couple pics of the 2" spacer on a 3500lb 5-5 axle hub used to bolt-up jk wheels
