Default After Market Bumper quality question

I just picked up my Rubicon and I really like the bumpers that are on there. SInce I have 35in tires I need something stronger to hold the spare. I also want a winch in the front. My concern is will the aftermarket bumpers eventually rust? I notice the stock ones have a plastic coating which appears could last forever.

What your opinion of the quality of the custom bumpers and how they stand up against the stock ones?

Give that plastic bumper a year, and it will start to fade. Plus both my fenders and bumper had rock damage with in months of owning it. The plastic is crap. Ditch 'em.

Took 6 months for my rear to fade noticeably. Thats through the winter months up here in central Alberta, Canada. No Sun really, just bitter bitter cold....

There are many quality after market bumpers out there. If you're worried about rust just make sure to clean them good and keep the salt off. Steel bumpers are definitely stronger than stock but if you want to keep stock from fading just armor all when you wash them. I've had my rear bumper and fenders for 3 1/2 yrs and no fade yet.

Good to know. Two consistant comments. I just was introduced to this spray called Shinola. It leaves a gloss behind that has no residue. I was planning on picking some up just for the bumpers.

If Im going to buy a bumper im still a way off. I cant figure out which one I even like.

I got rear-ended the 8th day I had my new jeep. Went with aftermarket bumpers and never looked back..
