Default Squaeking coming from front passenger wheel...I think

So I have this squeak that comes from my passenger wheel area. Its most pronounced when I go along a road with a fence close by or another car is next to me. Its like a chirping/squeak that you can hear when going about 20-40MPH and its frequency is about 2-3 times per second.

It has to be something that is rotational related. Not like a busing or something on the lift. ( see my specs in my autosig ).

Is this an axle flange issue? I know my description may not be the best, but this is driving me crazy. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Check your brake dust cover. They get bent easily. Have you had the wheel off or any work done lately?

My Man! found the dust shield....it was really close to the disc. I bent it a little and now it does not squeak when I am just driving down the road.

ONLY when braking....lol.....so now I have to figure that out, but I feel relieved that its not something in the axle.

Thanks for your help.

Default Squeaking

I am having the same problem. I am thinking it was the cheap brakes I put on the vehicle. Probably already toasted since I do a bit o wheeling.

Brakes hate mud.

I am changing them out tonight so I will let you know.

From time to time, small rocks get caught up in that dust shield, causing a squeak. Just something to keep in mind. I pulled mine out as far as possible to keep this from happening.

if its coming from the rear check the handbrake mechanism on the rear discs. they like to stick and not release well sometimes. need periodic cleaning

Guy in my Jeep club is a mechanic at my Jeep dealership. He says another member with a JK got fed up with rocks and mud getting caught in the dust shield so they pulled his axles and took them off.

He said the axle take out and put back was a piece of cake because you don't have to take the diff cover off. There are no clips on the front JK axle....full floating or something like that is what I think he said.

So....I'm not going to do it now, but when I re-gear, I will most likely address this. Thoughts?

I mean....I guess Chrysler puts them there for a reason, but it seems that is a prime place for dirt, mud, rocks, and debris to get wedged. Plus they bend and rub the rotor.
