Default Rubicon Rock Rails No Cutting yet

Thought I may have to cut an inch of my stock Rubicon rock rails when added the 2.5 lift and 315 ATs. But still an inch of space between the tire and rail. Took it out and rolled up on a about a 2' high boulder and still cleared. Will continue to monitor. May just for peace of mind go ahead and cut an inch off later and trim the pinch seems. Seems pretty easy to do. Anyone else leave their rails as is with no issues?

I have a 3" BDS lift with 35" Toyo MT's. Mine seem to rub just a little when off roading. Not really enough to worry about. I've thought about trimming a bit off but that's as far as I've gotten.

I have 2" BDS lift with 33s. Normal driving is no problem. Had a bit of rubbing while wheeling a couple weeks ago but nothing serious. I am also thinking of chopping the rails, but haven't made much progress past that.

Well if I do it, seems easy enough. Just take the rails off. Mark off and inch to cut and take them to a body shop to easily saw off. Then measure to drill a hole, so End Plug can be screwed back on. Then using a dremmel or skill saw, cut/trim the Pinch Seems and put some black plastic cualk on the end to seal.

Did this just last night. I was concerned about the clearance and honestly thought the rail should end at the edge of the body just like to does in the front wheel well.

I will say your instinct is right, taking the rails off is an easier safer approach. We initially tried the saws-all approach and it wasn't going to be easy. Since there are only 8-9 bolts and the Jeep is only 7 days old, it was an easy on/off.

The think I would caution on (and I don't know what you'd be able to do about it). The paint on the rails is rubber based. When you put heat to it, you get some bubbling and melting of the paint near the area you are cutting. So it it's as easy as just touching up the raw steel edge after the cut it made.

I do like the look of it being flush better and I hope there is some value in keeping it away from the tire (since it's now done).
