Default Which mud tire would you choose

I've got the factory 16" steel wheels and 225s on my JK now and also have a set of takeoff 17" Wheels. I'm trying to decide on an upgrade in tires..nothing crazy. Either 265 75 16 Maxxis Bighorns or 255 75 17 BFG KMs (factory rubicon) tires. If I'm honest with myself, I'll spend 95% of the time onroad but do go offroad on occasion. Having said that, I don't care..lol..I like the look of the mud terrains and want the traction when I do take it off the pavement.

Which of the two would you choose? Either have a clear advantage on or offroad? Wear charactoristics? Input would be appreciated..

I purchased the Dunlop Fierce Attitudes. They are great in the mud as well as rain and snow. Great all around tire.

IMO; the BFG's are the Best for on & off Road, as well as wear.
My last set had 40K miles on them. As for the price....Your gonna
pay a steep price for them. They are after all the #1 rated tire.

If You are concerned about the price, You might want to take
a look at Super Swampers (#4) or Dick Cepek (#2).

If you have the choice, go with the smaller rim, but put more
meat, (rubber cushion for airing down) on them. The price will
be less for a smaller rim. and you'll have the benefit of rolling
more of the rim on the tire when you are off-road.

I switched to Goodyear MTR with Kevlar...I had the BFG KM that came on it stock...great tires...lasted 55K mikes before I saw some dry rot set in. I just wanted to try something different...not disappointed with them at all.

I just traded for a set of rubicon take offs, to be honest when these wear out i'll be going to a set of treadwright gaurd dogs. Yes the treadwrights are retreads but I've seen nothing but good things on them, and the price is awesome for those of us with tight budgets.

And i have nothing against the bfg's at all, they are pretty quiet (i wouldn't care if they were noisy) and handle great on the street. Honestly i have only had them on for a very short time and haven't gotten to take them offroad yet so i can't say to much about them.

BFG KM2s for me and very happy seem o be wearing well and handle ll on road and off road conditions well. A friend has Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs which look great and go well also but are wearing quicker.

If was going with a smaller tire, i would get km2. To me, they are the longest lasting mt you can get. But, when you get into 37s they are more like 36 so i went another way

Take your time and find some Rubi take offs with very little miles. You will save cash and they are great tires.
