I used the MBRP Reinforcement kit and Daystar tailgate bumpstops on my stock carrier. Been running a Nitto (HEAVY) 35" tire on it for 7 months with plenty of off roading and no problems!

I run a similar set up with a 35" mud grappler. I used the MBRP kit as well and the MBRP extension for it to fit. I couldn't use the daystar bump stops because they were too short so I made my own out of heating tube and the stock ones and it holds the spare firm. I wheel my jeep and have yet to see a problem. I try not to leave the tailgate open for long periods at a time to be on the safe side.

You can always do what I did and run a 35" MTR that fits perfectly on the stock carrier with no spacer or modification :P

You can run it on a stock carrier but it may crack the carrier someday or bend it if it get caught to something while wheeling. I say just get a new rear bumper w a carrier. Looks nicer in my option

Bought some Daystar bumpstops, installed them and they were on the ground the next day. They're made out of a soft foam and the tip that screws into the tailgate breaks off easy. Running no mods right now, if I go wheeling I'll throw the spare in the back. I check the spot welds about once a week. Haven't decided what I want to do for a carrier yet.

I do not have a brake light extension at the moment. I am planing on relocating my license plate to the rim center and getting the LED 3rd brake light option with it.
