Cab cover... Which do you own?
I'm looking at getting a cab cover, heading to the beach at the end of July and I'd really like to go without my doors for the week if the forecast looks mostly clear. I'm looking at these cab covers and dunno which to get. The smittybilt one is "water resistant" and $90. The Bestop one is $165 but made from the same material as the soft tops.
So... Which do you own and how does it hold up against the rain?

Smittybilt will not hold up against rain, only dew like or light mist. Bestop makes a great one and I have the rampage with no issues and it's waterproof. No matter which one you buy, go buy tent and gear waterproofing spray or aqua armor. That will make it a ton more waterproof!
Any outdoor store will carry the spray. It's usually around $8 a bottle
I always get mine at BassPro

i have the same questions as the op... the bestop seems to be accepted as the "best" but still not perfect. i would rather sacrifice some of its waterproof properties if it were thinner and smaller to pack.
i am interested in the rampage one, but it is hard to find any info on it. do you have any pics of how it mounts?

I have the Bestop cover... Awesome fit, heavy duty construction and attention to detail. I have the one that goes down to the rockers and covers the door openings. So it's great with halfies or doors off.
I use it with the top off or with the Trektop NX. It's a little snug with Nx on but it fits. It is waterproof for sure. With the Nx on there is. a small gap where water could get in. It so far, it hasn't. The rest of the cab and tub are closed tight.
I have no complaints at all.
Let me know if you want some pics.

I have the bestop cover. It's on the expensive side but totally covers the doors and top when removed. It is totally waterproof and has worked very well for me over the past 3 years. Sorry I don't have any pics of my rig with it on, but here's what I'm covering:
I have been using the Smittybilt for a year now (maybe 10 times in that period). It has gotten me through some pretty good down pours and flash flood type rains. I have had the equivalent of a couple of gallons of water pool on the top, and the inside of my Jeep is always dry. Granted I run a bikini top during the summer. I checked the last time, and after removing the cover I had about a table spoon of water that had gotten through onto my bikini top. I wipe the top with 303 protectant when I take my hard top off, and angain about 1/2 way through the summer.
For casual use my Smittybilt has been great.
