Default Hi Lift Jack Install

I want to mount a Hi Lift Jack on my back bumper. I was wondering if anyone has some ideas for a stock bumper.

Thanks

If it's plastic, I wouldn't.

Some have mounted it to the spare tire, some to the upper roll bar in the rear. Someone even made some nifty brackets that mount to the soft top bracket locations on the rear roll bar. Options are very limited with a stock, plastic bumper JK.

Default Just did it this weekend.

I mounted my 48" hilift to the stock plastic bumper using the hilift mount kit. I secured the mounts to the bumper about one half inch from the circular wheel cutout for the spare. I was uncomfortable mounting a jack to the plastic bumper, so I made a cutout on the inside of the bumper and inserted some plywood to support the area around the four bolts on each side. It's actually very solid, but I will soon get a steel bumper and do the same thing, minus the hokey plywood. Thank goodness no one can see it.

Anyway, mine is mounted horizontally on the bumper under the spare (35") and is "secure", so it can be done.

PS

There, I beat you guys to it.

Hey guys,

I've been trying to find a vertical mount for a 48" Hi-Lift Jack that goes onto a stock spare tire carrier for the JK. Anyone have any info on where I can get one???

I figured on the outside of the spare would work, but can't find any mounts for a stock JK spare tire carrier. I really want a vertical mount, I'm not a fan of the horizontal mounts on the bumpers, especially since there's no room on my bumpers.

Any ideas??

I use mine with the rear tow hook or as a winch only cause of the plastic bumpers.

Here is a pic of our Ruby with the bumper removed by a tree while wheelin. If you look close at the passanger side you will see brass type inserts that go into the bumper and that is ALL that holds it on.

Using this pic as a point of referance

The winch/ cradle is gone now and we puit the bottom of out highlift infront of the speeker and the top part between the sport bar and the back of the jeep in a depressed area and use 2 custom length ratchet straps to hold it in place. Keeps it warm, dry, rust resistant, clean and ready to use in a moments notice.

[QUOTEor as a winch only ][/QUOTE]

Your kidding, right????? It would take you a week to move a stuck Jeep if you used it as a winch only.
