stupid question/rubicon suspension
i have a 2007 wrangler x unlimited. i just recently purchased the springs, shocks, end links, and rear trac bar out of a 2007 unlimited rubicon.i thought the rubicons sat an inch or so higher than the x models.now im thinking the only difference in the tires they came with.am i correct? or is the rubicon suspension in fact taller than the x model.the reason i ask is, i already put in the 2 inch spacers, and was looking for just a little more lift.my wife drives this thing everyday,so i was only looking to maybe firm up the handleing and get just a little more lift.are the spring rates better on the rubicon models?are the shocks better?i only gave 100 bucks for all this stuff, but i hate to have wasted 100 bucks.guess i should have asked these questions BEFORE i bought this stuff, but any answers would be great,thanks-Brian
there are too many spring rates to give a blanket statement. you'd have to run part numbers or a vin to find out if the rubicon they came off of had the HD springs and shocks. i would say they are prolly the HD springs (firmer ride) but thats just a guess.
The parts are interchangeable according to the mater lists...so you just wasted ~ $100.

(sorry)
You ARE right about the lift on the Rubi's being entirely based upon the differences in tire size....if you look up the std tire for the others, and the std tire for the rubi, you will see that the Rubi's 32's are the reason its sits taller.
IE: Instead of swapping out the springs, etc, you just needed to get 32's to get the rubi ht.
Of course, 33's fit a stock JK, so that's not really worth it either....for the money you spent, maybe if it went towards a 1" BL that would allow 34's, and a 2.5" BB would let you run 35's, etc. (Bigger than the Rubi, etc...)

Live and learn....or learn, and live.

With what was said, if you put unlimited springs in a 2dr will it help as far as weight carring capisity. We have a new warn bumper, winch, rear box fill of tools, supplies, and emergancy stuff, high lift.

Well, it's not a complete waste! While you're not getting any extra lift, $100 is a deal. Towing will be a little better, I'm sure...
You will have succeeded in stiffening up the suspension with the Rubi springs, but why would you want that for a daily commuter????

It was a waste because he wanted it to get him the lift height the Rubi has, before he realized that the rubi has no extra lift, its just on taller tires.
If he said he got it to change the quality of the ride or something, that would have been different.

I have to disagree. I had the same concerns. I have a 2-door X. I bought Rubi 32" tires and wheels from a guy, that stood me up a little taller, but not much. Another guy gave me the shcoks , springs and control arms off his 4-foor Rubi. Day before yesterday I had a local shop (Absolute Offroad, great guys) put on the shocks and springs while they they installed a Daystar 1 3/4" BB. I went up slightly over three inches. I would have to say the Rubi coils gave me another inch and a quarter over the stockers. I used to be a carpenter so I can read a tape pretty good. I was very impressed.
The ride is a bit stiffer, but not at all uncomfortable; I mean, it's a Jeep for crying out loud. They told me I might want to go with longer shocks if I do some radical trails. I may do that, but for mild workouts and around town these will work great. I drove about a hundred miles this afternoon and evening, it felt very good, very solid! You didn't waste your money.
