33's With no lift issues..
Hey there, a you can see, i'm a newbie, my JK should be here in a week or two. I ordered a 2 door X, auto, with the "heavy duty suspension with gas shocks." I want bigger tires, thinking 33's. I read the stickies, and it basically said that it would be ok, but might have some minor rubbing. When/where would this rubbing take place? On road? Off road without going really crazy? in the whealwells, fenders? I really would like to add a 2" lift, but it makes me nervous with the whole lifetime warranty issue.... Any advice would be much appreciated.....
Alot of it depends on your Back Spacing on your wheels. Do you plan on using stock wheels.
Some have rubbing when the suspension during turns entering drive ways, curb checks other have have no trouble with mall cruising it is the occasional trip off road.
Either way I am looking to do the same thing just have not decided on what yet. But I am close to a descion

I was either thinking of putting 305/60R18 KM2 on my stock rims if I can't find used rubi tire package(local) anyone know of any issues without a lift thinking spacers and a BL would be fine
Bassically, with no lift and stock wheels running those tires you will not like it. It will rub and hit most of the time.
You must do a wheel spacer or new wheel with at least 4.5" BS to clear those size tires. I have a 3/4" spacer in the front to level the rake and 4.5" BS wheels on my JK with 33's and on the road I do not touch anytime. Off road I have to be tucked hard to just kiss the inside fender plastic covers on the front. The rears never touch. It does sound like the front is comming apart when it tucks but it is very minimal scaping when look at.
Hope this helps you.

Right now I am leaning towards the KM2's ina 285 series on my stockers. I plan on a BB lift and I have one for a TJ and just as soon as I get back I plan seeing if it will mount up. I just might wait for these tires to wear down and then I (we Jeep and me) will rotate back state side and I will not have to pay nasty shipping charges. So then I will lean towards engine mods, Volant intake, maybe the Stage I or II chip.

I am running 285/75r16s with NO rubbing issues at all. At full turn I still have over an inch between the tire and the air damn. I didnt use the stock rims, I went for Cragar Soft 8s. I got all 5 new rims shipped for less than $300, and that not only alleviated the problem of backspacing, but also that most tires over 11" wide reccomend atleast 7.5" wide rims, whereas the stock 16's are only 7. I know people have done it, but I was going to spend $200 on spacers, so I felt the extra $100 for new rims, which look ALOT better was well worth it.
The backspacing for the Cragars is only 5", not the previously mentioned 4.5", and I dont have any issues at all. If your going to spend the money on new shoes Id definately go with the 33's. That extra inch over 32s really makes a differece and the JK handles the size like a champ.

i ran into this. i put 285/70s on my 17inch factory wheels. i had minor rubbing on the sway bar at full lock. i got 1.5" wheel spacers and the rubbing was gone. later i got new wheels that came with 4.5" backspacing & no problems what-so-ever....... cept now i think i need bigger tires
