Default $1600 quote for 4.56 and a front Detroit Trutrac?

I got quoted $1600 for G2 4.56'es and a front Detroit Trutrac LSD from the local 4wheel parts store installed. But, I also got quoted $1470 for the same set-up from a local mom and pop type store. Question is Which one should I go with? On one hand, 4wheel parts has many stores and is well known while the mom n pop store is not.. Both say 1 year warrenty on installation and the G2's have a 10 year warrenty. Which one would ya'll go with?

plus one on that. But who is doing the install at both? Is it handled by an 19 year old working at 10 bucks an hour?

I'd probly say store-wise that would be 4WP's but, they have many Mech's and who know's if they decide to make the WO to some nOOb who just started? So really there is no sure way to know who has the MOST experience doing gears. I'm leaning more towards 4WP's because I'd THINK they would be more likely to warrenty if something did break. but then again if I go with the other people then I'll Have an extra $130 in my pocket for beer and such.

Seems like more things cost more out west, except gear install's! I got qouted just under $1,500 for gears and labor from NC 4wheelparts store and same from a custom shop, and you got gears and trutrac for less!

I wonder if 4wheelparts store will match other 4wheelparts stores across country?

Not knowing anything about the ma and pop store I can't say... my perception is 4wp's does a lot of gear swaps... is the ma and pop store an offroad shop?

In my area there are a few indy 4x4 shops that have several company rigs that I have seen out on the trail and I would trust them to do a gear swap. I also know a great mechanic I would trust to do brakes, radiator, exhaust, etc type of work but I wouldn't have him do a gear swap in a 4x4 since he probably does something like maybe once or twice a year.

When it comes down to it.. $130 more is NOTHING when it's done right.. is it worth skimping on to find yourself sitting someplace broke down miles from ANYTHING.???? DAMN spend the lil extra..

The origional quote at 4WP's was for $1780.00 OTD but asked him if he could bring the price down a-bit because that other shop had quoted me so much lower. He talked to his manager and came back with the $1600 and said that was as low as he could go. You may want to try a few more places and see if they come in lower????
