Ripp supercharger
I have an 08 rubicon with a ripp supercharger and headers. The problem I'm having is that it keeps coming up with a po 401 egr code and sputters a little bit. Has anybody had this problem.
Hopefully Ripp steps in here with some adivce.
How long have you had the supercharger installed? Recently? Reason I ask is I did a search for what the code most likey means and all the suggestions look reasonable but one stands out. "Lack of Vacuum". If there is even the slightest vacuum leak it will play hell with your supercharger. I had a slight problem when I first installed mine and we were suspicious of a vacuum leaks. This may not be the correct method but I took a can of starter fluid and sprayed it around the intake mounting points(they crack), the throttle body mounting points(they crack), and EGR tube. Anything I had taken off to install the superchager.
That is just an idea outside of the obvious listed below.
A code P0401 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
•The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
•There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup
•The EGR valve is faulty
•The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum

Thanks. It has been a year since install. We had a few problems with tuning and got bunch of carbon build up in the exhaust so cleaned it all out and the new tune seems good but after a day the code comes on and it sputters a little. We checked for vacuum leaks and didn't find any. Same way as you did with starting fluid. I bet if the exhaust plugged up that bad it is the sensor itself. I hope. Thanks for the insight
Have you tried going back to the previous tune? Clear the code and see if it comes back. I had a couple tunes that did the same thing. Gave me a code after a day. I installed the stock tune that came with the Diablo Predator for headers and supercharger and code never came back. Ran that way for two weeks and all was good. Tried the new tune again and a day later engine light came on. Could be something with the tune. And I know I installed it correctly.

I am making an assumption that Ripp sent you a different tune. You said the "New Tune". They probaby sent it by email with some instructions. The Diablo Predator Tuner you recieved with your supercharger should have had two tunes pre-installed. One of the tunes would be for headers only and the other would be for headers with a supercharger.
When you plug into your Jk the tuner turns on. Once it has booted you would select "Performace Tune". When you get into the next menu there should be three choices. "RIPP Tunes", "Custom Tunes", and "Quick Adjustments". The "RIPP Tunes" will have the two generic tunes I spoke about above(Headers Only & SC with Headers).
I would install the SC with Headers tune. Clear the codes. And run your JK for a few days to see if the code comes back.
Unless you have the previosuly used tune that you got from RIPP. The one just before this last one that made your JK throw the codes. If you still have that tune in your email I would re-install it to your tuner and install it back on your JK. When you install that tune back on the tuner it would be under the "Custom Tunes" Selection.
Hope I'm not confusing you.
Call RIPP and see waht they say.
