Default Recovery Strap vs Snatch Strap

Not quite sure which is best for recovery purposes. What are the pro's and con's for each?

Snatch strap is best for recovery.

My thinking is you use what best suits the situation. Snatch straps are great when needed for a mud recovery etc but if just a steady pull is all that is required and not a snatch then I prefer a no stretch strap. Thus if the worst should happen and something breaks under load there is less chance of creating a missile due to no energy stored in the strap. Kind of like steel cable versus synthetic winch line.

So if I'm reading this right, a snatch strap is dynamic (it stretches) whereas a recovery strap has no give to it (I guess sort of like a tie-down strap type material)?

Recovery Strap vs Snatch Strap.... I thought they were the same and a Tow strap was the one without any give? I was told my ARB recovery strap would stretch a bit adding more and more tension.

Snatch straps are generally nylon and more expensive. Straight cheap recovery straps are generally polyester. Some manufacture do stuff up and mislabel straps. We had an incident here a couple of months ago which very nearly ended up with a bent chassis. Retailer was quick to sort it out. I'm thinking about having a shortish recovery strap made up but will stencil NO SNATCH on it multiple times.

Screw all this crap... I get straps and chains off a town company that tows 18 wheelers.... If these straps and chains will hold a fully loaded 18 wheelers then I know my lil jeep will be just fine! Lol

I'm a fan of the ones that the Navy uses to tie down aircraft. :-)
