Towing a car 1500 miles
Hi there, I am planning on towing my wife's Acura car behind my 08 JKU and was wondering if there was a certain gear, speed, or any info I should know before pulling this thing on a 2 wheel dolly?
Thanks for any help on this one!!

You'll be fine. I once towed a 2000 Prelude behind some old mini van. I was only able to go 50mph up a hill, but it did OK. Just take it slow, turn off OD, and if needed, shift into 2nd on hills. If you're on a manual tranny, then I'm sure you already know what to do!
That car is gonna be over 3000 lbs probly like 3300 something. I only mention this because a tow dolly is not likely gonna have brakes on it. It would not really be a deal breaker for me but would make me consider my route very carefully if hilly terrain is anticipated.
By the time you add the dolly weight to the Acura's weight, it will be a heavy tow for the JK. It will roll down the road, but the combination hasta stop and steer also. People tow campers of the same weight (carefully, I hope) but those campers have brakes of their own. The Acura/tow dolly probably won't.
If you have an automatic, the tranny is gonna run hot. If it will be August in Texas, the whole system will run hot. Maybe run at night?
Considering the capacity of the Jeep and the weight of the tow, a driver for the Acura would be a better solution.

Is the car two wheel drive or all wheel drive? Front or rear wheel drive? These are your deciding factors. I operate three towing companies for a living. If it is two when drive make sure the drive wheels are on the dolly. Front or rear doesn't matter. If its rear wheel drive but the rear tires on the dolly and use the seatbelt to tie the steering wheel so it doesn't try and turn on you. If its all wheel drive don't even use the dolly.

Thanks everyone for the input! I am going to tow it, and since I have full warranty I will keep it about 60mph. I will be driving at night, so I will be on the east coast by morning. Hopefully that will ease the burden on the tranny.
You should be fine, I towed my wife's 99 Honda Accord on a U-Haul full vehicle dolly from Fort Hood, TX to OKC, OK with no issues whatsoever. Just take your time and don't push her to hard and you should be OK. Hell I kept my speed between 60-80 mph. the whole way...lol.
