Default Gear Oil Circulation and ARB

Curious to see how many others have had their pinion bearing and or gears go out because of poor circulation of oil in the housing? I'm being told that ARB locker housing dies not allow oil to circulate quick enough back to the pinion

don't know who told you that but, that's a new one for me. more than likely, your pinion nut was tighted to tight the last time work was done on it and that caused the crush sleeve to crush more and because of it, cause your bearings to wear out prematurely.

It may not be that far fetched.
I remember something about a mod to grind something in the housing to allow the oil to splash into the upper pinion bearing area, so it will wash into the bearings. I don't recall what made it necessary, though.
Not much detail, I know, but it may spark someone else's memory.

i think you're thinking of the old TJ dana 44. it was necessary to notch the tubes in order to let oil drain back into the diff. failure to do this would cause the bearings to be starved of oil. i don't think this is a necessary step on JK 44's but, i could be wrong. if it is still necessary to do, i would think that the shop responsible for installing the arb would have known to do this.

There are thousands of Jk's with ARB's and I have read many threads on ARB. This is the first time I have heard of this. You would think with the amount of ARB's out there. This would be a more vocal issue. I don't know much but ARB seems to have set the standard for what works.

It's being replaced this weekend. What signs can I look out for on an over tightened pinion nut

This conversation has nothing to do with differential covers.
