Default Split rear exhaust - does it take away horse power?

Hello again everyone,

I am seriously looking into purchasing a split rear exhaust for my 2012 JK Sport. I think my first choice is going to be a black ceramic coated Gibson but I am also looking at the Borla.

I read in one of my previous threads that someone posted the split rear exhaust can actually decrease HP...has anyone heard this? Or can anyone stare me in the right direction where I can find some actual test results, charts, reviews, ect...

Thanks everyone.

I have a dual Corsa. People say you can lose low end torque with a dual exit but don't really think so, it's not like there's no muffler. I notice no change in the low end and a small gain in the high end. Since we don't spend much time in the high end you basically get a nice grumble and no performance change.

He was talking about a gibson which is a direct replacement for the factory muffler but has two exists.

Had the dual on my 2008 had far to much drone, drove me crazy at low rpm under load, sounded nice when floored but that is not very often, i was told there is no packing in the mufflers and that is why it is a drone monster, replaced with a straight thru dynomax rock crawler system, this is live able for me.

not sure if they have changed the design in the last two years maybe the new ones are better

What brand did you have? Mine only drones at exactly 71mph and it's not even that bad.

That was me in the previous post who mentioned the HP loss. I have no proof or personal experience just what the Banks rep said to me.

One thing I do want to point out is that HP is not what we Jeepers really want. What we want is Torgue. I will take torgue over HP anyday. WHy do you think so many people are willing to get a 2.8 lt Diesel?

These are not sports cars. As trucks, our priorities are a bit different. I would totally be willing to sacrifice HP for more torgue. Never the other way around.

I don't think anyone was suggesting sacrificing torque for hp.

My comment was in regards to the above quote. Some newbies may not understand the difference between torgue and horsepower and how one is more important than the other.

I'm not suggesting the above poster is a newbie, but I have seen many times on this site an emphasis of horsepower and little emphasis on torgue.
