Default EVO Lifts-Coil Over or Double D Long Arm?

With all the excitement about the new bolt on coil overs that Offroad Evolution is now offering I started looking at these with the other hundred thousand Jeepers out there. I see that EVO also offers their Double D Long Arm suspension. Is one better than the other? What are the differences?

I looked at the cost for the Bolt ons (front and back) + drag link flip kit + front LCAs and the price is about $4300. The price of the Double D kit is $4359 with the King shocks. So the price is about the same for either set up.

Any opinions? Thanks for the input.

You are not really comparing apples to apples...

One is set up with long arms, Coils and Shocks, The other is short arms and coil overs. Coilovers will give you adjustable ride height, Dual rate coils, increased flex over the Double D system.

On the other hand the Double D with King shocks will still ride really nice, Less control arm bind (comparing johnny joints to torsion rubber on the stock arms). Its a tough one. I Personally went with the Bolt on coilovers and stock control arm set up. Down the road I can upgrade to the long arms system and have the best of both worlds.

I knew I was missing something. Thanks.

So you can run stock control arms with the new bolt on coil overs?

Yes, that's currently what I'm running on my JK. It's not optimal set up. But it works good

Not to hijack, but I've been trying to research as much as possible on the new bolt on coilover setups ....

In addition to eventually replacing the stock control arms with a long arm system, what else should one be prepared to upgrade or replace? I've got a 2012 JKU, so I know the front driveshaft is a must.

Thanks :-)

PS: I know the long arm isn't a must, but it's definitely something I'd want to do shortly down the road.

From what I could tell from helping with the fronts today (or maybe I was getting in the way) the skid plate crossing under the drive shaft had to be removed. The DS was hitting it, not allowing for full drop. That was on an 08 model so I'm not sure if it the same on the 2012. Also, if you have gussets be prepared to cut the lower shock bracket that comes with the kit. We had some interference bc of the C-gussets and weld build up. The brackets would mount with out trimming them.

I think this answers my questions but to be sure, The coilovers can be used with the long arm later or vice versa? What would be the benefit of both?

Nice flex. How do you have your front plate mounted?
