Default 35" tires, 2.5 aev lift, what backspacing i need?

Hey,
I have spend hours reading about backspacing and what it is etc. so this is no a question about that.

I live in Australia and it is illegal for your tires to come out wider than your flares...
They are pretty strict on this too.

I have recently bought the 2.5 AEV lift.
Also have an AEV tire carrier, and rugged ridge front bumper. (if that helps)

Looking at getting either:
35/12/17 KM2
35/12/17 Kevlar
35/12/17 Cooper Stt

I am shopping for wheels, but need to know what backspacing I need for the tires to not rub and fit in the flares?
I know everyone says 4.5 backspacing is recommended, but they stick out about .5 - 1inch right?
What backspacing will get might wheels/tires right to the edge of the fenders.

Any feed back is appreciated!

Thanks, good to know.
Are your wheels 4.5 backspacing?
In the states they seems to sell the only at 4.5, but I have seen them advertised as 5.25 too

You can get the AEV WK pintlers and I believe they have less backspacing to fit under the fenders better, there is a discussion about it on the AEV forums

I went with Pro Comp's 17" 7069 series, which has a 4.75" b/s, and 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers(315/70R17) for my jeep, and Bushwacker Pocket-style flares. The tires stuck out a lot from my flares at first, then I put the Bushwacker flares on, which added over 2" of extra coverage, so they sat just inside the fenders. I say SAT because I added some 1 1/2" wheel spacers to get them to stick back out, since its not illegal over here, but my first setup would've worked for you as an option...

I have a 4.5" lift and this is how my tires look with 5" backspacing (0mm offset)...same both sides...

As you can see they still stick out quite a bit. Heck, my previous rims were 5.71" backspacing and even those stuck out of the stock fenders quite a bit.
Here's the pics to prove it...

My axles were off center at the time I had the 5.71" backspace, but you can see how much they still stuck out of the fenders... On the driver's side they were tucked in pretty good but that's again because the axles were off center. They did rub the front lower control arms at full turn on the driver's side like this though. All pics are with the same 35x12.5 Toyo MT's.

I think you should consider wider than stock flares to get the coverage you need and maybe 4.75" to 5" of backspacing. BTW, Discount Tire Direct staff are very knowledgeable about this subject, so you could always just call them and ask. They helped me out a great deal.

Thanks for the input and pics!

We get pulled over and issued tickets for less than 1cm of tire past the flares.

I'm thinking I'll get the Pintler's. They say they have 5.25 backspacing but the vendors seem to say 4.5 (I'm very confused on that topic)
Aev also say they won't rub with 35s.

I also think the duratracs are at least .5inch wider than the BFGs. Pretty sure the Kevlar and STT will be slightly wider than BFG.

I can always run a thin rubber strip on my fairs that will look crap but be legal until I get wider flares.

Is it common for your axles to be off center from a 2.5" lift?
Is it worth correcting ?
Thanks

Not if its installed correctly and you have an allignment done right after, which is part of the process anyway.
