I have a 4" Rancho lift I'm about to install. Been searching for tires and rims. I really want to go with 35x12.5 on 17x9 w/4.5BS but don't want to spend that much. (or lose too much power without regearing or have to buy new TPMS sensors)

BFG makes a 285/70R18 MT T/A KM2 that fits my standard 18x7.5 JKUS rim. Would this 33.7" tire look goofy with a 4" lift on my 4 door?

 

You would still need wheel adaptors along with your stock rims and in your first scenario, you don't need to buy new tpms you just transfer them over from your old setup

 

I personally would run nothing less than a 37" tire with a 4" lift. If you plan on running a smaller tire, I would go with less lift

 

The Rancho 4" I have was designed for 35x12.5 although they say with fender mode you can run 37". I don't have the time or money to regear so 37s won't be happening soon. New bumpers with winch and tire carrier should compress down to more like 3.5"

If I had unlimited funds I would go with portals. Then I could run 37s without any lift. The axel offsets would also provide an addition 3.5" of ground clearance under the pumkins.

 

Regardless whether you go with 35inch tires on your stock rims(with spacers) or on the 17x9/4.56 back space the problem you run is with rub. I rubbed on my front bumper after going up tire size. That all stoppe after installing my aftermarket front stubby tho lo.

I didn't want to spend a lot on tires so I dropped down to 15 inch wheels... I just looked up 285/70/18 and they are more than 100 more than the 35/12.5/15 and you can get 15 inch alloys that clear the brakes for about 100 each... Since you would need spacers anyway, going with new 15s and 35s will be cheaper than buying 285s and spacers

 

I've got a 4in teraflex lift with 315/70R17 and the work just fine. I had to get a different set of rims with this setup to prevent rubbing on sway bars so I went with the mickey thompson Side biters. They provide 4.5" backspacing. I have no problems with this setup.

 

I run 315/70R17's on a 3" lift and haven't had any complaints as far as their maneuverability and the torque loss without re-gearing(but did it anyway). The tires cost a lot more us they're on 17" rims, but I like the look of a 35" tire being on a 50-50 ratio with the rims. Most people that I know of with 4" lifts tend to just spend the money for 37's and new gears.

 

What wheels are you running?

 

Mb tko's from the forum sponcer discount tire. They are 3.75 backspacing and clear the oem brakes. Discount has three or four different mb wheel at 15 that are the same backspacing and clear the oem brakes
