Default What's the 'best' lift for highway driving on 35s ?

Thinking about a '12 JKUR auto and getting a lift for 35s.

Main use for this daily driver is around town and city-to-city highway traveling. Off road about once a week on logging roads and decommissioned forestry roads.

With that in mind what lift would have the best manners at speed? I can live with whatever compromises I have to off road.

Paved road highway handling on 35s is the only concern.

I have found a thread in JK Tech about 35" tires for my intended use [ https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...d-tire-243800/ ], but nothing about highway lifts.

Thanks.

you need to know that "best" is 100% subjective and, depending on how much money you can spend, there's a lot you can do to get what you want. so, what kind of budget do you have to work with?

a budget of less is better than more, but too much is too much

I really don't know at this point, I'm fishing for knowledge.

What would you suggest as a minimum to get the job done, and where would you put any extra dollars from there?

Thanks.

WOL is absolutely correct. Its like asking which is the best color JK? Ill tell you this, I am extremely satisfied with my Rancho 4in sport lift with the 9000XL adjustable shocks.

Others may agree and others may not. The point is, there are a lot of good lifts out there for what you want to do. If you are going to be on the road 99% of the time, I would not look at 8 control arm systems or look to spend thousands of dollars. The rancho system coast me about 1100 with the shocks. Again, I love it and I can dial in the stiffness of the ride. Soft for the road / more firm for the trails.

Default Lift for 35'

I would suggest a 2.5 inch lift, a smashing tool, and black bed liner spray paint. If you still have a issue, which you should be fine but new bump stops as well.

I think MPKelly said it the best. The concepts he put out there are best way to go. (Coil, shocks, etc) Brand is a religious choice and everyone on this forum has their own.

Do some research on brands and take everyones opinions. Then look at costs of each and weigh the pros\cons. Look for package deals and dont forget to consider any potential future changes to the jeep you may make. Bumpers, racks, wheels etc. These all add weight and should factor into the lift choice.

Best of luck!

if you don't plan on wheeling much you can start with a budget boost just to get 35's and start from there.

If the sky was the limit the best for highway driving and 35s would be a custom IFS conversion with coil overs and maybe an air suspension for the rear.

My daily driver has the 2.5" lift from rough country. Just replace the springs and shocks, easy install. Dirt cheap and ride is the same as stock. Fits my 35's just fine. Granted, I'm not an extreme 4x'er and I wish that I installed a 4"... But you wanted cheap and it doesn't get much better than the 2.5

That question always warrants a multitude of secondary questions which would include but not limited to: What is your budget? Do you plan on wheeling it? and if so, How hard? etc...

The answers you are going to get are going to be based upon each individuals personal preference more than it is anything else. Some people love their KMs some people hate them. Some people like their RC lifts while most don't. blah blah blah

The key to this is doing it "once" and "right the first time"! You dont want to spend $500 on a lift and find out that it causes you to wear a mouth piece when driving so that you don't loose any teeth. And you dont want to spend 10k on a lift that you will never "use". This forum has a lot of great information about this subject. Explore all of the options out there prior to making a decision, ask questions of individual owners who have a product you may be interested in (lift / tires/ shock / etc.).

I personally have a 4" EVO Enforcer lift w/ KINGs that I love. The ride "on-road" is great and it does whatever I need it to "off-road". The only thing that it is usually above most peoples budget who dont go straight to a double down or coil overs.

I would say though at a minimum, I would go 2.5" RK or OME with Bilsteins (get ride of those stock mess).

Good Luck

If you're not looking to destroy your bank account then go with a 2.5 from any of the bigger names, Teraflex, Rock Krawler, EVO and pick your tires add in a set of lower adjustable control arms and you'll be good to go and it'll handle amazing off road too.
