Default 4.88s or 5.13s with auto?

Looking at regearing. My FT Ultimate shoud be here next week. Going with km2 35s.

I do have an auto and 3.73s and stock 32s. Looking at the calculators 4.88s are going to be even lower than the stock gears with 32's. 5.13s would be way lower.

I'm going with Moto chrome wheels and will take them off through winter. Do not want to wreck the wheels with sand and de-icer. I then might buy some taller winter tires for the stock wheels since the lower gears and 32's would be terrible. All this to consider.

Anyone heard of Sierra gears? I have a guy that can get a set for $300 with install kits. Sounds to good to be true. Dont want junk though. Have an guy that will install for $200 an axle. Jeep wants $550, which might be worth it for the powetrain warranty.

How are the 5.13's on the highway with an auto? What rps are you running at 70?

Default gears

Wait a few weeks until Alloy USA comes out with their gears. They will be better than Superior gears that are available now. Superior are the only ones who have released gears for the JK right now. With Superior it will be hit or miss on the install. Some people have had good luck and others have had alot of gear noise and all around poor contact patch when setting up. I would suggest 4:88 if you plan on doing alot of highway driving and staying with 35's.

I am glad I went with the 5:13s. I was alittle stessed over the same 4:88 vs the 5:13, but after 5 min. in the veh. I knew I made the choice.

Would your answer be different if the question was 35s with a manual? I'm debating over between the 4.88s and 5.13s.

I just picked up mine today. Got the 4.88's installed. The other thing to consider is that the higher ratio you go, the pinion gets smaller and smaller. The 5.13's were too small for me, I wanted a little more beef. Driving home today, I can really tell the difference, and am happy with the choice.

I got 5:13s and 37s done today. The gears are perfect...... 200 rpm more than stock at 65 mph and my speedo was recalibrated.
