Default Roof rack road noise

I have a Kargo Master with a smitty built basket on top. I like the sturdiness of the rack and the basket has ample are to store stuff. The problem I have is the road noise. I have been thinking of getting rid of it for a gobi rack.

Does anyone else have a Kargo Master and experience road noise and has anyone done something to fix it?

Does anyone have a gobi rack and experience road noise?

Thanks.

I have it with the Congo Cage. I wound 3/8 rope around the front crossbar and it makes the noise a bit easier to live with.

x2 on the spiral rope trick. You can also get an v-shaped fairing from Kargomaster that clamps to the tubing.

You will have wind noise with the Gobi rack as well. Anytime you leave a space between the upright supports and the A pillar and the front of the rack is forward of the roof line you will have more noise. I am going to modify the Gobi when I get time to get rid of some of the excess noise makers up front. I plan on installing new front supports that hug the A pillar and moving back the front of the rack about an inch. Although this job will have to stay on the to do list till some other more pressing issues get resolved. No matter what rack you go with there will be some additional wind noise and drag that will affect mileage.

Default Thanks

Thanks.

I forgot to mention, I had a Kargo Master rack on my 2 door, and I don't ever remember the noise being as loud on it.

I will try the rope trick. Was also going to try and fab up an air dam of some kind.

Thanks for the input.
