I'm new to the site and just bought my first jeep!! I was thinking about a 2.5" lift from teraflex or ome. What is a sway bar disconnect??

I have Teraflex 2.5 inch coil lift with the front disconnect. What you are doing is disconnecting the axle mount from the endlinks (which are connected to the antisway bar) on each side so that it allows more vertical travel of your front two tires. This allows you to hopefully keep all four tires in contact with the trail/rocks/whatever and also allows for more 'flex' over stock suspension. The endlinks work to connect the front sway bar to the axle mount. Some kits involve removing the end link altogether and some disconnect at the axle and flip the link up out of the way. You want to use this on trails/offroading, but not at highway speed as it allows more body roll and is less stable at higher speed. Good Luck.

Default Sway Bars

No problem. All stuff I've learned from threads on this forum. Lots of great info.

Perfect description! Just don't forget to tell him that one side is always easy to disconnect but the other is almost always a pain! Lol but the difference with the disconnects is AMAZING! And enjoy ur new jeep! Have fun and be safe out there, but most of all go get that JK muddy!

If I can get someone to put some weight on my jeep that helps get the second link attached.

I think Jeep recommends you drive 18 MPH or slower with the anti-sway bar disconnected.
