Default Teraflex question ....

Quick question....what's the difference between the 2.5" spacer kit and the 2.5" coil spring kit? Advantages? Disadvantages?

Thanks!

Spacer kit is more budget friendly....it will get the job done but you are still riding on OEM springs.

If you can afford it I would suggest a lift kit that includes new coils. Your ride will be much better!

The spacers don't increase ground clearance, but do allow you to run bigger tire (which could raise clearance).

Not sure about the coils doing anything for ground clearance? I'm a novice still so i'd be interested to know this as well.

Do the coil springs all the spacers do is put rubber on top of the factory springs to raise the jeep. The coil springs will usually allow for better articulation of the wheels and axles and creat a better ride. Yes the coil springs are more but you will benifit more so.

Ground clearance is obtained from your tire height. If you go from a 31 inch tire to 35 inch tire that's 4 inches. You obtain half of that in ground clearance. Thus 2 inches. Hope this helps.

Get the spacers if its a mall crawler and daily driver it will retain factory ride. If you go coils you'll get better articulation (not much with stock arms) but a totally different feeling ride.

Advantage to spacers
*cheap
*stock ride

Disadvantage to spacers
*limited to stock coil performance
*stock coils weren't designed for lift

Advantage to coils
*articulation
*better suspension response
*less body roll with stiffer springs

Disadvantage to coils
*price
*will sag over time
*changed ride quality

Neither will gain you clearance (measured from ground to lowest point *differential*) but both will give an increased approach angle, breakover angle, and departure angle.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anyone. ?

A suspension lift will also give you that much more ground clearance too, right? You can only raise the pumpkin clearance via tire size (like you said) and maybe some other mod that might change axle position. I guess that is the main reason people go big tire.
