Learn from my misfortune...if 37s, alloy-up your rear d44 shafts!!
Think subj gives the main point. Was running stock shafts in rear (have front d30 sleeved and gusseted), but still stock shafts also. Did some difficult but not nuts rock crawling in Catskills. Bustd rear right shaft. Took apart. Rear axle housing ground up beyond hope. Rear arb locker chewed up as well. Ugh.
Moral of the story is upgrade to alloy shafts in rear if go beyond 35s!! I just didn't realize how much damage a busted shaft could cause. Thought I could wait.
This will certainly make me a bit gentler on the skinny as well

Can you describe what action destroyed the shaft etc? Were you bouncing on the rear end and mashing the gas, or was it more like just doin some crawling and outa nowhere bang? Just curious about your experience as I'm upgrading my rear axle now for 37's
Crawling over big rock. Locked up front and back so no slippage and minimal bouncing. Was using proper technique but was a very tough obstacle. Needed quite a bit go gas (auto) just to start lifting over rock.
37 mtrs aired down so tons of traction.

Sorry to hear about the damage... While I still run both front and rear stock (just gussets on front), I seem to be fine. Granted, I have some trail experience and know my limitations (being that I know I haven't really beefed up anything on the axles), so I keep that in the back of my head. I also run slightly bigger and for SURE heavier tires than you....guess your time just came before mine! haha
When money permits, Chromemoly shafts for the front are in my near future.

That's shitty dude. They definitely don't make things the way they used to.
My rear passenger shaft is fubar as well...back end slid into a tree(rear tire directly centre into a very small innocent pine), no more than 6-8KPH and now I have a shimmy at 80KPH. (positive it's RP shaft...balanced tires, checked rim, replaced track bar,)
That being said, I think my D35 shafts on my TJ can hold up to more abuse! haha
