Default 36x15.5 Micky Thompson

Hi guys, does any one know if I'll run into any issues running a 36x15.5" tire on a 2012 JK with an AEV 3.5" lift and AEV front bumper? Those tires are pretty wide so I just want to be sure I won't run into any rubbing issues. My rim back spacing is 4.5"

Is there anyone running a similar setup?

Thanks for any info

While I don't have personal experience with tires that wide, I do run mud grapplers (35/12.50) on wheels with 3.5" back spacing, and I have to remove my sway bar links when wheeling because the tire will hit when turning. As the tires your talking about are 1.5" wider per side, I can only imagine that you'll rub. I'm sure mine would, and your wheel is an inch closer to the Jeep.

Kleinrider, thanks, your grapplers only interfere with the links is when you're wheeling, how about normal daily driving? Im curious about normal pavement driving with the 36x15.5s. Will turning be an issue with front end components or a full bumper?

Unless you plan on running it in the sand, I would go with a narrower tire

You would need to run wheel spacers or get "more" backspacing on the wheels.

Sorry, don't know about rubbing with your front bumper.

I would suggest finding someone running tires in size you're looking at, or close to, and try putting them on your front and turning and simple flexing to check and see.

I did that with my buddy's 37" tires on my 2.5" lift. Rode on those for a few hours, just to see if it was possible.

I am considering a similar width (33x14.50) on my 2007 for mud/trails because I give up on trying to be deeper than the ruts and find gears... What is your opinion on the width?

Narrower tires are actually better in the mud. And wider tires put more leverage on the axles and suspension components. I would stick with 12.50's or no more than 13.50's, but that's just me...

With 15.50 wide tire you may want to consider hydro assist for off-road. The already weak jk steering box is pushing its limits with 35in tires and up. The wider the tire even more so. It'll look badass, but off-road without hydro assist its a bitch to turn the 13,50's I have. I just got a ram, savings funds for box rebuild and pump.

Thanks for all the input guys. I really don't plan on hitting the trails with this Jeep, strictly for look (be nice) so maybe I'll be fine after all. I guess only one way to know for sure!

Had a 14.5 you will need 4.5 bs plus a 1.5 wheel spacers
