gears
so i get why you need to swap gear ratios if you go with larger tires ie 35 and up but i always see people talking about quotes and were a bunch of diyers right??? is there something crazy about these jk diffs that should be scarring me away from this or will i be alright with the help of an experienced mechanic and quality tools???
There's just not much tolerance for error when it comes to installing gears. If you're off by a little and drive around...poof, good-bye new gear set and your diff. It's certainly more involved for the average DIYer wrenching on the weekends, so I think that's why most choose to have it someone else do the installation.
Also the people who can do it themselves usually have access to or own a pretty well equipped shop with all the necessary tools. It takes more than just what comes in a normal tool kit and a set of instructions.
