Default MBRP Exhaust Issue

Hey all! Several months ago I bought and installed the MBRP offroad cat back system. My issue involves the hangers that come with the kit. As the pics below will show, the kit hangers do not have the retaining head (found on the stock hangers, and on some other after market kits) at the end of the hanger bars. Several times now, especially on long rides over rough roads, the hangers will bounce loose; causing the pipes to fall down on the parts below (most notably my rear break line) causing damage in some spots. It is now just a pain in the A** to get under there at truck stops or on the trail or wherever to rehang the pipes. So, now to the question: what should I do?

The issue hanger... as you can see, the rubber hanger is actually angled up and folded over (only way it will fit for extended period of time)

Break line damage

I have my stock pipes in the garage (kept them in case after I had issues with a Banks kit on my TJ) but I am looking for a solution to the issue; not to throw the stock parts back on. That is the last resort.

Thanks in advance ,
Mike

I'd drill a hole through the pin and add a cotter pin or similar retaining device... Or if u have a welder, weld a washer to the end of the pin...

That was my original thought as well. Thanks for the feedback. If noone else has anything better; I'll more than likely rock that out this weekend.

Thanks again!

You could just put a hose clamp at the end of the metal hanger or right by the rubber isolator and it will probably be enough to stop it from moving on you.

I had a similar problem. I ended up loosening the clamps and repositioning the pipe segments to make sure the hanger was angled better. I then really tightened the clamp bolts to prevent any slipping/rotation at the pipe joints so that the hanger angle didn't change. Lastly, I did something similar to the hose clamp suggestion. I had some conduit collars laying around the garage and clamped one to the end of the hanger. It never slipped out again. Just make sure all the angles are right.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The plan for this saturday is to pull everything off. I found some cotter pins in my "random s*** bin". Bought them a while ago after someone was going around taking them off hitch pins; I guess as a joke?

John, I'm glad I'm not the only one that had an issue. I figured I had probably done something to mess things up. I'll realign everything and see if that helps as well.

Again, aside from the falling issue, I like the kit. I especially like the concept, considering a little while after I first installed it i came down hard on a rock that would have smashed the stock muffler (had it been there).

Thanks a bunch,
Mike

Having this exact same issue. It has happened at least 3 times now where the exhaust has fallen. Looking to fix it this weekend.

same problem here too... i thought about the cotter pin idea, but have yet to take it off and get it done. if i had access to a welding machine, the washer on the end was another consideration. the hose clamp seems like an easy/quick fix and i can do it as is. good idea - thansk! i have just been checking it periodically and adjusting it accordingly.

YES! sorry this is late. but i was having the same problem. same location. tonight i REALLY torqued the clamps. seems like the clamps directly north of the muffler was not right. i'm gonna buy some of those hose clamps tomorrow and slap those on as well, just for good measure. If I had a welder, i would do that too. I was thinking about calling MBRP and asking them what's going on with it too. Maybe they have a fix?
