Battle of the less expensive winches
So I think I have narrowed my future winch options to three choices, what do you guys think is best, all three are with synthetic line.
Recon 10500 lbs waterproof- $556.44 would have to cross border so add gas and taxes
Runva 11000lbs for $477, free delivery
Engo 10000lbs 479.99 again have to cross border
Don't want to go much more expensive then that and sadly in Canada we don't have the luck of a sponser being able to get us a deal, duty kills price to ship over the border, thanks in advance for feedback

Hearing more & more buddies going with Recon... have yet to hear one of them not happy with their purchase. Had my truck not come with a XD9000 with synthetic, I would have bought a recon for it. Btw, you can get a recon for about 140 less than what you mention at truck & winch.

Not exactly true. Warn actually failed. It "won" the overall competition because the somewhat biased magazine thought it was a "pretty" winch so that carries a lot of weight.

If anything, Warn did not hold up well compared several other winches in that testing. Also, note that several companies were either not invited to particpate or refused to participate. One who refused was Mile Marker. Mile Marker winches are top notch and I would seriously consider one of those over other brands....especially if I needed a constant duty type winch.
Other winches that were not tested (no reason given) were most of the chinese made winches like Smittybilt, Rugged Ridge, Quadratec, etc... I know Engo is chinese made so at least they did include one (might have been others like Harbor Freight). I haven;t heard of any issues with any of the chinese made winches. For every probalem a person has with an XRC, I'm sure we can find a problem with a Warn to match it.

I was a big supporter of Runva until Monday night I was wheeling on a snowmobiling trail. Got stuck. Figured it would be safer to winch out.
Unspooled. Hooked up. And Solenoid just clicked. Tried everything. Didn't have jumper cables or many tools to go moving wires around.
Luckily I was able to back out. But then had to wrap unspooled cable around bumper, etc. I've emailed runva Canada with no reply so far. Kind of frustrated because I recommended this winch multiple times.
