I was trying to make the same decision a few days ago, and decided that I could just start with cutting the stockers & if I wasn't happy with the result, then go to bushwackers.
This was after the basic cutting, didn't run tape or anything technical, cut one line with a razor, then second cut I went through & pulled the bottom off.
This is BEFORE any polishing, evening out, sanding, etc... not a finished product, so you'll see some rough cuts. (I also wasn't very careful, as I was kinda secretly hoping I'd hate it & "need" to get bushwackers!)

I'll stick with this for a while, I don't think they look much different than the plastic ones, or smittybilt, and it's free. Change your mind & you can always order the ones you want later.
btw, total job took about 90 minutes max.

I dont know if i want to cut my stock flares im just debating on keeping them or getting the bushwacker ones like pros vs cons ya know but that is def an idea im thinking of taking into consideration
Just go to projectjk.com and look for the factory fender chop write up and hack your stock ones, it cheap and pretty easy. Not to mention the money u have saved from not paying $600 dollars for some plastic fenders that u pretty much already have, you can use for something else like bumpers, winch, lift kit, track bars, control arms and so on...I was going to get bushwackers too but that's waaaayyyy too much money for some plastic

The main pro to the Bushwackers is that if you cut the liners properly it looks very clean/finished underneath. Another pro is the flat surface to set your beer/tools on.
A major con for me was the stiff plastic and the way they mount to the body in the rear. I made light contact with a dirt wall, and it dented in the rear quarter panel slightly. The stock fenders cut would have just flexed out of the way.

i was debating cutting or buying new. decided to cut last weekend. I did the front in about 2 hours and cut the inner liner so I could retain it. very easy. haven't added edge trim yet. gonna get my 37's on and decide if i need to trim more on the front edge first. i'll do the rear next weekend. they look fine....save your money and cut the ones u have for sure. they are flexible and if u trash em on the trail or don't really like them u can just buy some. no harm in trying the cut first if u are gonna buy some new ones.
