Default Teraflex Tire Carrier Third Brake Light Options?

I have been going crazy trying to figure out a way to have a third brake light with the TF carrier. I don't need a 3rd brake light in VA just for safety. I was either going to go Pilot Led tail lights or find an adjustable third option. What have you done?I am not a fan of cutting the light and mounting it on the spare. I am also loosing my mind trying to find a mount for my antenna. TF said the antenna and gas can options for their system won't be until next year! Thanks for any info.

I modified the third brake light kit from Teraflex to work. The kit also comes with a relocation bracket to move it to inside the spare tire. no cutting required. Click image for larger version

It comes with a relocation bracket if you get the whole system. Search YouTube for the install video.

Yeah, I am not a fan of cutting the light and mounting it in the spare. It looks cut up to me. Thats why I was thinking LEDs so at least it would be brighter when I brake

Which modifications did you have to do to the bracket in order to make it fit the adjustable tire carrier? I really like this mod but want to make sure that I have the necessary tools available.

I believe Poison Spyder had an LED thrid brake light kit where the light would stick out through the wheel. Probably pricey, but someone probably makes it cheaper. I don't like the look of chopping the stock one and putting it somewhere else either.

I was in the same boat. I didn't like the bracket covering the spare, so I drilled holes in the carrier and mounted the bracket to it (behind the wheel). I then cut off the light and mounted it to the Teraflex bracket. Now my brake light shines though the wheel. But this only works if you have a pretty open wheel so the light can shine through. To rotate the spare, I don't have to mess with the brake light at all.

I saw that AEV make a nice one also. I think it's called the AEV CHMSL 3rd brake light. Nice and hidden, plus it's relatively cheap.

You can mount your plate off of the inside of the spare with the provided bracket then use the standard led 3rd brake light license plate light kit that mounts to the top of your plate and you are all set.

I used the supplied Teraflex bracket and an ORO Led Plate light. I chopped off the section of the bracket that would mount the factory modified brake light. Not certain if you want to relocate your plate.
