I think you'd have a rubbing issue with taller tires on the stock rims at the stock spacing. I looked into this for a while (tall skinny mud terrains are few and far between) and I eventually just sprung for standard 35" gear. I like the idea of tall skinny AT tires for winter, I think they'd rock in the snow on the roads, but I'd definitely put them on a wheel with the appropriate backspacing. My stock Rubicon 32s would rub on the fender well armor when the jeep was flexed out. The wheels have to be moved out to make room in there for taller tires.

Tall skinny tires with open tread and good siping make the best snow tires if that makes any difference to you.

Otherwise skinny tires probably don't hurt anything unless you like to run in sand or mud. They offer little to no flotation (which is why they work well in snow).

Skinny tires get better MPG, everything else being equal.

As far as looks, I figure a Jeep looks right when its set up to do what the owner wants it to do.

KM2's in 255/80 R17 is 33.3in tall and 10in wide. Thats about all you have available.

I like the SuperSwampers Narrow SSR's in 34~35 X 10.5in wide, but those are ubber expensive. Unless, you get the LTB's which are not very street friendly.

If you are planning no lift what-so-ever, then yes I agree with the post above. The 255/80's will be the tall thin option for you. With a mild lift, you can do what I did and go 285/75/17. It will be about a 34 and roughly 11" wide.

Here is a picture of my tires with NO LIFT. It did rub so I lifted it 3.5"

Now with the lift...

Sorry for the delay on response. It's the OR-Fab carrier with Rotopax. It comes with two (3) gallon gas cans and the thing is solid as hell. You will hear nothing but positive feedback from those who have it. Check out their site, they have a few different configurations
