So I think im gonna attempt to fabricate my own stubby tube bumper and tube rear bumper.. Has anyone else done this? I cant get myself to drop 600 to a grand or more on two aftermarket set ups.
Im thinking either 3 inch black pipe or 3 inch ridgid conduit. (conduit cause its easy to bend and match any angles. But sucks to weld)
And either paint and plasti dip or paint and bedliner
Any input would be great

 

Easy to bend isnt good for a bumper....

 

Just Save for a real bumper. Like the post above, you dont want a bumper thats easy to bend. And the Tube bumpers make the jeep look, well, old and boring...

A new (stronger) bumper will save your front end most likely while wheeling or if you get in an accident. Tube bumpers dont give too much protection, especially a stubby tube bumper. Search craigslist. Also you can find some stubby bumpers pretty cheap (200$ range) online.

But to each his own. And if you really like the look of a tube bumper I say build it. But use some strong steel to make it useful!

Good input,dont particularly care for the tube look, but care less for the stock one.
3 inch ridgid conduit requires a bender and it doesnt bend easy. I just meant cause I have a bender at work

I have the pavement ends bumper. And i love it . pretty cheap too

 

But if you are for sure going with a stubby, you should think about trimming your front fender flairs! looks good with stubbys!

I just made this grille guard at work. Its 1/8" steel. I bent it myself! took a few try but I got it!

 

That looks real good. ill have to experiment a little, how heavy is that?

 

Im not sure. I would say somewhere around the 50lb range.

I used this. it was my first time ever using it. I learned to make sure the pipe fits snug in the shoe on the bender or you end up with kinks...
