Banging my head... Superchips Flashpaq or Bully Dog
OK so this is what I can gather after hours of reading on this forum
Bully Dog - Real time display, more "gadgets" to see/play with
Superchips - More gains in HP, torque and milage,
On Bully Dogs website, it states a gain in hp from 11-15 and torque from 15-20, depending on setting. Now my question is... how much more is Superchips gaining then Bully Dog? If its 2-3 of each, no big deal, I'm going with Bully Dog. If were talking a significant amount more, the real time display on Bully Dog doesn't matter any more, as performance is the goal at hand, and I'll buy a Superchips.
Is there info/people who did actual side by side test with both pregrammers? Actual dyno results? That would be a huge help.
Regards.

Buy the one that has the better features that you are looking for, not for power. neither chip is going to give you any significnat improvement in power. Sure, you might feel a little bit of added oomph but nothing drastic like adding a supercharger or hemi. The HP gains claimed by programmers translate into very minor improvements once all your mods are factored in.

You're not gonna feel much if anything at all between stock and a Superchips tune. I can't imagine feeling any difference between 2 programmers. And forget about better mileage. On Superchips 91 tune it sucks gas like an elephant.
Its funny how these programmer threads go. Some swear they work, some swear they don't. I appreciate your comments, but this is why I asked if anyone has any facts.
I'm not trying to sound like a prick, My mind is made up, I am gonna get one. I am just looking for people that has experience with one or both.

My comment was based on actual expeirence with using programmers. I haven't used the Bully Dog but I have used Superchips and Hypertech. Neither programmer "wins" hands down in the power category. It is so subjective that driving style, Jeep setup, tires, road conditions, etc...all play a factor. They are not capable of producing the type of power that you think you are going to feel. The 3.8 is pretty much maxed from the factory and the little bit of power you might be able to get usually comes in the form of shift point changes.
For instance, the gas saver will shift more quickly to keep RPMs down. The tow tune will downshift more quickly in order to produce more power when pulling something. The 93 tune seems to run higher rpm's before shifting.
As far as creating real horsepower, the gain are so minimal that they are not that notieable. yes, I do feel a difference between a stock tune and a programmer tune. But I'm not out there passing cars on the highway. The BEST performance mod I ever did was regearing. That helped bring some of my stock power back.
In the end, I chose Superchips over Hypertech. The reasons came down to options at the time. I wanted TPMS diable which Hypertech did not offer back then. I wanted the 4 high locker override which Hypertech did not offer (and something I've now never used!). There were a few minor things that Superchips offered so it came down to features. Honestly, the 87 Superchips tune vs. the 87 Hypertech tune......no difference.

Superchip Flashpaq. With what realistic expectations I had of this programmer, I noticed enough of an improvement in low/mid torque, and acceleration, to make me wish I'd only bought one sooner. Very noticeable improvements for me. I run the 87 tune on 89 octane, I haven't noticed any + or - in mpg's. Tow and 91 tunes to burn more fuel. I also am stoked being able to adjust when the cooling fan kicks on. Very happy with the SC!

I have the Bullydog, I wanted the gagues more that a few HP. At 1 point I decided to sell it because I wasn't feeling anymore power and set it back to stock. Needless to say I put the Bullydog tune back on. I does make quite a differance. No not like adding a V8 but much better than stock.
