Default Intake and exhaust

Everyone talks about modding the intake and exhaust ( CAI and cat back ) for low gains in HP and torgue. How do you think a snorkel would work s the intake as opposed to a CAI?
I got a Rugged Ridge snorkel and gonna pair it with a Magnaflow offroad performance exhaust. Just curious on some thoughts

unless you intend on using your jeep as submarine all the time, why snorkel?

Logically speaking - think about it this way...

-find a regular straw, and a cloths pin.
-attach cloths pin to your nose to shut off air access through nose.
-secure straw to your mouth only sucking in air through the straw
-do laps on the track with some sprints and pushups

Results: Probably won't be fun.

Essentially what you're doing to your engine. Although less dramatic, reducing air flow causes engine to work more even if you're able to blow more wind out of your tail end for some extra HP.

Recommend aFe Stage II CAI with Flowmaster 50 SUV - run you up towards several hundred bones.

"But why master-san, would I do that?"

Because then you get 18-19 mpg like me who runs a 4 door with 3.5" and 35x12.5 tires...

But that not truly CAI. That's still hot engine bay air, just more of it.

1. Added security, people have hydrolocked in water not even up to the doors.
2. Newfoundland gets a lot of rain, streams and brooks rise in a couple days, good to know ( at times ) I won't have to turn around
3. I just thinks it looks freakin' awesome.

I agree Snorkel is a true CAI but the issue is you dont gain anything power wise due to the engine having to draw the air down a tube then through the stock air box. I run A k&N CAi got some gains off the line but the real gains came when I added my MBRP cat back exhaust but if you are around water a lot go with the snorkel it gives you the added protection from hydrolocking, also you can run a aftermarket filter in the stock air box to help with the air flow to thew engine.

Any suggestions on aftermarket filter? I'm reading about K&N alot. Got a K&N short ram on the Lancer, seems to be working nicely.
