I have not yet looked to far into it but I wonder what all I need to put a 3.6 in my 2011. Between the cost of a Hemi and a supercharger, has anyone just considered putting a 3.6 in their rig. I know that there are some wrecked 2012 jeeps out there and more will be available at local salvage yards with today's drivers. Just wondering if anyone else has any thoughts on it.
The 3.6L looks good on paper, 290hp compared to our 202 hp. But I've heard that its not as impressive behind the wheel. "Theres no replacement for displacement.....or a turbo/super charger"
Dont bother looking into it its not worth it, a RIPP supercharger would be wayyy less of a headache.
someone please put a ford 5.0L in a JK!!!!

I have an '07 that had the 3.8, and now a 5.7 vvt truck engine. I also have a 2dr 3.6 auto and a 3.6 manual 4 door.
The 3.6 is definetly an improvement on the 3.8. All around drivability is better but it is not a reasonable transplant choice unless you just trade for a newer jeep. The 5.7 is substantially more powerful in all situations.
Hemi, supercharge or trade in.

I guess if that's not enough, for a bit of gain you can do a 5.7 hemi:

And if it's still not impressive, then just get this Jeep:

Then you can put 35's on it, and ask what gears to get, because it's such a dog, runs 12's in 1/4 mile.

I performed an engine swap a year ago on a Ranger. With a modern engine and all the computer crap it is a pain I will not endure again.
