How do you get the shifter knob off without destroying it?

For a manual, put it in second and pull towards the back seats with all you've got. Then take a break and pull some more. It will come off eventually.

Don't know if this is the same for the 11+ JKs but it works on the 07-10 style

On a 2012 with a custom boot. One of the best things I've done so far. You have to touch that knob every time you shift so you might as well put something on there that you like.

How did you get the knobs on? I got the transmission and transfer case knobs and can't get the transmission one on. It just spins. Do you reuse any parts from the stock knob? I had one heck of a time getting it off too.
