Default New shocks

I just got a 6 inch x series rough country lift and everything is excellent but the shocks seem a little stuff. What other shocks would y'all recommend?

My old RC lift came with Rough Country 2.2 series shocks. VERY stiff and rough. Bilstein 5100's was a huge improvement, most everyone loves the quality and performance of Bilsteins.

Yeah, I actually just changed out my front Bilstein 5100's for Fox 2.0 piggy backs. Wanted more sensitive dampening and more travel. More costly but real nice. For the price, bilsteins work better than any other shocks that are under $100 ea.

Installed Bilstein 5100's last night... Wow what a difference they make compared to the crap shocks that came with the lift.

They seem to get better after they break in a bit. Very happy myself.

I've got the Teraflex Elkas and here's my take.

1. Fool with tire pressure. That's a real easy and free way to adjust the comfort-level.
2. Consider an adjustable shock.
3. Find someone with the shocks you want and ask if you can drive their Jeep to experience the ride first-hand (it's subjective).
4. Consider softer springs like the EVO "plush".

Good luck.

I recently replaced the SSV shocks that came with my Trailmaster lift with Bilstein 5100s. They made a huge difference in the ride quality. Bottomline the shocks that come with trailmaster, rough country, etc are really entry level shocks that while they do the job they are also achieving a price point as well and you can't get the same quality or technology in a shock at that level.
Try the Bilstein 5100s you can't beat them for the price.

How bout Old Man Emu? Check those out. I've had em on my jku for about 25k miles. Nice ride--not too soft. I got the long travel.
