Default Which el Cheapo Winch?

Mile Marker SEC8 - $300
Smittybilt XRC8 - $275
Badlands 12,000lbs - $300

There's mixed reviews on the smittybilt and not much on the other two. Any opinions/experiences that can point me in a direction?

It's not what you asked for but Superwinch is having a 40% off deal on all their winches with proceeds going to Sandy victims.

That's a good deal! The LP8500 was originally on the list but the solenoid wont clear my bumper. 40% might put another model in my price range though. Thanks for the info!

You didn't mention the Engo, but I picked up the 10K version from a vendor here on the forum and it's done nicely so far.

One of the off road mags did a test, and badlands came out looking pretty good for the money. I haven't had to test mine yet, but feel good about its operation without loads so far. I think when you go this cheap there is always the possibility of failure. Which is why we pick the hardest line possible when wheeling Risk is fun,, Drive fast, take chances, buy crappy winch

I am liking the Quadratech branded winches. At least the specs are good and they give comparisons.

Yeah, I like their new I series but there shipping is frickin ridiculous. I only live across the state from them and I'd pay:

$48 shipping
$20 oversized shipping fee
$22 sales tax

At that point, I may as well order a warn VR from 4wd.

I have the Runva 11xp winch. Our local jeep club did a group buy of these winches a little while back and we're getting many great reviews from them. Can't beat under $500 for a winch that comes already equipped with synthetic rope. The steel cable version is $300 or in that range anyways. They come with a fully sealed gearbox and motor, and a competition grade solenoid. They also come with a wireless controller and neoprene winch cover. Limited lifetime warranty. Love the color too! Great winch at a great price!!

I've got my name on the list for an Engo 10K when they get back in stock. Did very well in winch shoot-out and the price is $308 and free shipping. Northridge 4x4.
