I would go 4.88's for 35's. Yes, they will be streetable. Your mileage will never improve enough to make a difference

I've got a 12 manual with 35's and 4.88 gears and I really think it is the best balance for me. It's a DD, I've got 14,000 miles on it since April, and we crawl a lot of rock. I've got enough power that I don't have to ride the clutch all the time.

As far as gas mileage goes, it's never gonna be great lifted but even with heavy armor I am getting around 19 mph on the highway. I probably lost 1 mpg going from 3.73 to 4.88.

With the 3.6L. I started at a little better than 21 mpg. Around 500lbs and 315x70r17" Falkens I was at just over 19 mpg with 3.73. 4.88 took me down to high 17's and switching to lighter BFG KM2 35x12.5x17's took me up in the 18's.

About a thousand miles into the KM2's my engine let go so I only got a few tanks in that didn't involve offroad so I would have liked more miles to get a fair reading but I would say I gained over 1/2 mpg on the tire swap. The gear change cost me around 1.5 mpg. It's also a 2 door but I don't know how much effect that has.

It depends on your goal. If you are doing more sand or mud than climbing and want to keep RPMs lower on the highway then 4.56 or even 4.10 will do. If you are doing big rock or plan on 37's in the future I would go with 4.88, possible higher. 70 mph isn't too bad but over 80 starts to push it.

X2 maybe I'm buying the wrong gas or something. I'm lucky to get 13 around town with my 4.10 and 35" BFG. 4.10 are certainly streetable but you won't win any races with them. Mines an auto and I'm looking to go 4.88s next spring.

Damn, and I thought I was the only one that put that many miles on my 12 JK. I'm sitting on close to 16k since April.
