Default Reg oil VS Synthetic

Anybody out in jeep land seen any difference in oil consumption between the 2? My 07' uses a little less than a quart every 3,000 with reg oil. I would like to switch but if the only difference is $ then I'll stay with reg...

You will see more of a difference with changing the weight of the oil.

If you are running 5W-20, try 5W-30.

I run full synthetic 5-30 in my oil consuming 07. It sure runs and sounds much much smoother than 5-20w. Ppuurrs.

My 2010 with 46k burns about 1/4 guart between 5k changes. An oil with a low "NOAK Volatility" oil reduces evaporation loss through the PCV valve. If it's buring oil due to getting past rings, valve guides, then the "NOAK Volatility" will not help.

Usually a "heavier" weight oil will have a lower "NOAK Volatility". So my theory is a slightly higher viscosity oil will dissappear less between oil changes.

I use 5w-30 Synthetic (Amsoil), I'd use a 10w-30 if I was burning a guart or more after 5k.

Note: I'm not an Amsoil dealer.

Do a google search on bobstheoilguy lots to read and learn. Then decide based on a educated decision.
