Default Re-Gear 3.73

I have made the following upgrades to my 2011 sport unlimited, automatic:

1) New Duratrac LT285/70R17’s
2) New AEV front and back (with tire carrier) bumpers

With the additional weight and new tires do I warrant re-gearing (stock 3.73)? It seems that the jeep has no power, is sluggish off the start and a decrease in gas mileage. Would re-gearing help with the power issue, and would it improve gas mileage? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Cheers….

I have an '09 auto, 35's MTR/K's and 3.73 gears. I feel the power is adequate. I can cruise freely and can pass at will. I do not use over drive at all. This gives me same output gear ratio as 5.38 gears on highway. It will improve your mileage if you turn the OD off, or regear and keep it on OD. Regearing will help with off the line starts. But whatever you do, don't expect it to be same as stock power or mileage wise. Heavier, more aggressive tires will take its toll.

Default Regear??

When i added the 2.5 inch coil lift and 35 inch tires, I drove around for a month with no power. Finally
got fed up and went to the 4.88 Yukons. Have been very happy with it - pricey though.

Agreed. I have the same year and tire/gearing and I honestly feel like its just fine. I couldn't tell much of a difference from stock to now. It makes me wonder if the way some of us drive dictates whether we feel it necessary to regear. I don't drive my jeep that aggressively.
