I have regeared axles in the past but its been awhile. In the past when i did the regears i was the one to take the old gears out. I was able to measure the stock shims, and use those numbers as my starting points for the new gears. This time i got the axle and everything was already removed. The axle is off a 2008 Rubicon. Its the front dana 44. The axle comes with 4.10's and im regearing to 5.13's.
If someone has done this regear, and has some numbers i could work with. The driver/passenger side carrier shim sizes, and the pinion shim size that you used. I know that the shim sizes vary from axle to axle, i just want something to work with.
Also I know on older dana 44's the carrier shims were behind the bearings, is it true that these dana 44's have the shims on the outside?

Did you read the regear how to I believe he said what is we're bit I would have to re read it to be sure

 

I have a brand new set if Yukon 5.13's and motive overhaul still in the box unopened. Make me an offer
