Default Will 305/65/18 Tires on OEM 18" Wheels with 1.5" Spacers Fit?

I tried to get a quote on a set of 305/65/18 to mount onto my oem 18" Sahara wheels. I know I need a 1.5"-1.75" spacer for clearance but I was told the 7.5" width of the factory wheel is not wide enough to safely hold the 305/65/18 tire. I was told I need a wheel at least 8.5" in width and preferably 9" in width. I could've sworn I've seen people running 35"x12.5"x18" tires on the same stock 18's with spacers.

Anyone have any input? Thanks!

Do you know how wide his 35's are? The issue I'm running into with is the width of the tire safely fitting on the 7.5" wide wheel. Most 35's are 12.5" wide but there are a bunch that are not as wide. I would think the 305/65/18's ought to fit and the dealer is not disagreeing with me bu he wont warranty the tires because he says there are to wide to be safe on the wheels. I'm hoping someone else on here has a similar setup that could let me know how theres is working out but I know most people just scrap the 18's and go to 17's since the tires are so much cheaper.

305 / 25.4 = 12.0 so that is a 12" wide tire (approximately). My Bighorns are a 305 and the manufacturer recommends a 9" wheel.

They will work but I wouldn't expect anyone to warranty them.

I ran 12.5" tires on an 8" rim for a decade on my YJ and never had an issue. That would be equivalent to a 12.0" tire on a 7.5" rim.
