Default terraflex rear tire carrier

I am thinking about buying the terraflex rear hinge assy to take the load off my factory hinges. I have toyo mt35's and it is a heavy sucker. I am currently using the stock tire mount with a terraflex adapter that raises the tire up one inch just to keep it off the bumper but i am getting a little rattle over potholes. Is the new terraflex hinge assy as good as their video says??

There's a few threads on here about these. Yes, these are awesome! Expensive but worth every bit of $500. Highly reccomend. My tailgate is dead silent now and has allowed me to weight the gate down with anything since all the weight is distributed to the new hinge.

Over $750.00 , wish it was $500. I seem to have been the only turkey using a stock rim and 35's. Had to also buy a wheel spacer , hence the additional cost above the hinge and mount. Just noticed rust on the tub side mounting point for the hinge, sweet! Back to the spacer, none of the available ones will mount flat over the TF mount studs, so it will need to be drilled out(spacer), also note that when using a wheel spacer the holes for the supplied TF third brake light will not line up with the spacer and these will need to be drilled as well....Thinking I should get some kick-back since I was obviously the test monkey for all this? It's nearing three months on this ordeal and I am still waiting on replacement parts to correct this issue. This does include the time it took to get all the parts in the first place since the mount was on backorder, then after I received that I noticed when I went to mount up my wheel that it had too much backspacing. I then noticed the instructions said you had to use a wheel spacer, so def needed to order that. First one was wrong part, had to get the right one ordered. Then noted the third brake light holes would no longer line up. Quick call to teraflex and a freshly drilled center section for the optional mount is supposedly on it's way. Yes, I could have drilled it myself, but thinking after $750 and nearly three months....someone else can drill my holes and hopfully re-powdercoat the part so I don't start seeing the same rust as on my new hinge.

The new hinge is suppose to be aluminum to my knowledge. How could it be rusting?

I thought the same thing. The hinge part that mounts to the tailgate does appear to be aluminum, the little pivot/hinge brackets that mount to the tub have rust on them. I have not investigated it to date, maybe they made these cast iron for more strength??
