Question Upgradeing a budget lift ?

I have been asking about suspension lifts on another post, but here's my next question. When I bought my Rubicon Unlimited in April of 07 I put the 2" spring spacer and a 1" body lift, if I install a 3" full traction lift can I still use the spring spacers or is this too much? Will that put too much angle on my drive shaft? Thanks.

With a 3 in full-traction your probably getting a little more tha 3in. If you add a
BB be prepared for some major driveline issues. New shafts a definate. You should PM that crazy mud guy on here Slickwill. I think he has a 4in. lift plus a
BB and 37in Boggers on a 2dr. He could tell you what he had to do or get done to run that set-up.

The best way to get 5-6in of lift and the most complete way would probably be to go with a Full-Traction 4in ultimate with your 1inBL. WOL could prabably inform you better how your stock shafts would hold up. If you have a 2dr , you should change shafts, 4dr they might last a while but I wouldn't think that running that much lift they'll last very long. Our JK's need alot less lift to run bigger tires than CJ's YJ's and TJ's. I know , I wanna lift mine more too ,but driveline issues have me at a standstill right now. I run the REBB and a MORE 1in BL , it's plenty of room for 35's, no driveline issues, wheel once a month, and I don't wanna mess up a good thing. But........Damn it's a jeep thang!

My problem is I can't find the original spring spacers I took off. And I'm pretty sure you reuse those when you put on new springs with a suspension lift. I would be happy with a 3" suspension lift. I guess I can always try to find some stock spring spacers. Thanks

Hmmm don't think your supposed to ditch your original coil spacers, most BB spacers and original isolaters work together. Call Northridge, I'm sure they can help you out, I wouldn't think stock ones would be very exspensive. If you order a kit from them I'm pretty sure they could help you out.

you should be able to get the replacement coil isolators at the dealership.

you can run a b/b on any lift... but it is far more simple to get a complete kit. If you like to do a buildup on your own, there are companies that sell their brackets separately. I still run 3.5" coils with a 2" b/b on my ZJ with no real issues. I ran the same lift with short arms... added front drop brackets... and later added a RE Long Arm upgrade. Still running the same coils, spacers, discos and shocks.

as already mentioned, the JK can accomodate some really large tires with minmal lift, so unless you just "have" to have 5" of lift, you may end up not even needing it.
