hi everyone! im new to this site but not to jeeps. recently bought my first JK and just joined this site. i have a black 08 2 door. its bone stock right now but as soon as christmas season is over the mods will pretty much be nonstop until mudddd season. im very big into building and modifying my own parts as much as possible. ist much more satisfying than just buying stuff and bolting it on...so with that said, is there anybody out there that has built their own bumpers? i have access to a pipe bender and a plasma cutter. i want to build my own tube style bumpers similar to the simple smittybuilt ones that i have seen around. any ideas? comments? tips?

p.s. i am chopping the fenders tonight and there will be pics by the end of the week

I liked it at first, but now think its ugly. I ended up buying an off-the-shelf bumper. I might do another, but it ended up not even being that cheap to build my own (i think like $200+ with consumables).

 

Yeap! I built my own! and finished it this week! it is not a tube bumper though, but still looks amazing! I did all the design and measurements, and a friend or mine who starts his fab shop did all the welding.
