Default how much is TOO much backspacing?

I found someone selling some 18x9 5x5 with 5 3/4 backspacing. Reading here, for 35's its recommended 4.5... would 5.75 be too much (cause any issues?) Thanks!

More than likely you will have some very bad rubbing issues. With 35s you probably need 3.5 -4" of backspacing on an 8-9" wheel.

so a backspacer should make em work? found a set of 5 of these wheels for $200 bucks, seemed like a killer deal (slightly used/abused, but still nice - since new these same wheels are >170 ea) Thanks for the newbie link, I'd have found that eventually...but dang so much info on here! (BTW, going to follow it, cuz I'm a newb!)

Never go cheap with wheel spacers. You don't want one just falling off while driving on the highway, or at anytime.

I've got over 10k on my "cheap" (Spidertrax) wheel spacers. No problems yet, check the torque at every rotation. Why would one just fall off...?
