Default Change Oil Prompt

So just a random question. The sticker from the dealer shows I don't need an oil change for another 3k miles. I was just prompted when I started the car to have the oil changed now. Any reason this would be the case if it was in fact just changed?

Take it back. Sounds like they forgot to reset it. But,...i think you can reset it yourself. Somebody will chime in with the info.

Turn your key on to acc and Press your Gass pedal three times. I found this review helpful on another website

Would this be the case for the prompt that shows change oil than disappears? There is no oil light that remains on.

The oil pressure warning light indicates low oil pressure and will come on and stay on while your vehicle is in the function position. It should turn off after you start your engine. The "change oil" message is based upon milage and driving cycle, the harder you might drive, the more often it may come on. It needs to be reset after the oil change but it's something you can do, the above poster has the correct sequence.

done and done. Just ran outside did the sequence and we're good to go. I'm driving it at full on jeep speed and haven't been off road so I know it's not the way I have been driving, haha. Thanks for the help guys, can't even get advice this quick from a local mechanic in store.

When you did the sequence (with the engine not running), did you have the key in ACC, or in RUN?

Do not start the engine. Turn the key to ACC position and pump the gas to the floor three times. Turn the key off and then it will be reset.

Perhaps the reason for my question was misunderstood.

MrMadMunky said to put the key in ACC to do the reset procedure.
My owner's manual says to have the key in ignition ON, (don't start the engine).

I was just wanting to know for sure if it worked when jandanjc had the key in ACC.
