Default Something went pop cant figure it out HELP!!!

2009 Unlimited X 4" rough country lift and 35" nittos tera grapplers. i also have a superchips flashpaq programmer

I was driving down the highway the other day 70mph and something made a loud pop in my driveline. I coasted to the side of the road and it will go in gear but wont move. I had to be towed home, the funny thing is when the motor is cranked it wont even roll in neutral. If i cut it off and put it in neutral it will roll. My transfer case linkage did break and i hooked that back up and made sure it was in 2hi but it still wont go. im thinking transfer case but not sure. ANyone have a idea before i dump a bunch of money into it?

I would say you are on the right path with the transfer case but I don't really understand why you cannot roll when the jeep is on but you can when the jeep is off. If there was something broken in the Tcase then you would think you would just be able to roll it whenever.
